How a 4 team bracket works
Four teams fit a bracket exactly. There are no byes and no empty slots. The 2 rounds are the semifinals and the final, and the whole event is 3 games: two semifinals, then the winners meet for the title. If you also want a game for third place, add one more, which makes 4.
That small size is also the weakness. Half of the field is out after a single game, and one bad game can end the tournament. If four teams came to your event, it is worth looking at the alternatives below. Double elimination gives every team a second life and needs 6 or 7 games. A round robin lets everybody play everybody: 6 games in 3 rounds of two games at a time.
Seeding for four teams
With four seeds there is only one standard pairing: the strongest against the weakest and the two in the middle against each other. That keeps seeds 1 and 2 apart until the final, as long as they both win.

When four teams are enough
- League playoffs. The top four of the standings play semifinals, 1 against 4 and 2 against 3. The best regular-season record gets the weakest opponent, which is the reward for finishing first.
- Family game night. Four players, one game console or one ping-pong table, one evening. Three games fit before anyone gets tired of it.
- Classroom and club. A semifinal pair can play while the other pair watches, then switch. One court or table is enough, so the schedule is simple.
- Final four. If you ran a larger event as groups with a knockout stage, the last four teams use exactly this bracket.
Print the 4 team bracket
The blank sheet has four lines on the left, two boxes for the semifinal winners and one line for the champion, with room for scores. Choose A4 or Letter, press the print button and the sheet comes out in landscape on one page. The seeded sheet carries the numbers 1 to 4 next to the first-round lines, so you can write the names in by ranking.

Questions and answers
How many games are in a 4 team bracket?
Three games with a single elimination bracket: two semifinals and the final. A game for third place makes four. Double elimination needs 6 games, or 7 if the final may have to be replayed.
Who plays whom in a 4 team bracket?
Seed 1 plays seed 4 and seed 2 plays seed 3. The winners meet in the final.
Is a 4 team bracket fair?
It is a quick way to find a champion, but two of the four teams go home after one game. If you want everybody to play at least three games, use a round robin with 6 games.
